Eh, not for us
We really wanted to like this. But it wasn't right for our needs. Turns out that we're not foam mattress people. Which is a pity. How it ships is cool and fun. A few things that were frequent mentions with foam mattresses were definite issues here. One of those things was the smell. That endured for too long, and was one of the deal-breakers for my man. Another frequent mention was overheating. Since this particular model has different densities going on and mentions "cooling", I thought this could work out. Nope. Enough heat build up to wake me out of a sound sleep a few nights. Another thing people seemed to mention was having a difficult time getting out of bed in the morning. Now I thought this was because they were enjoying their comfort and sleep. But in reality, it could be that they were having a resistance challenge. After the night's sleep creates a big divot, you have to climb your way out. I like the idea of making an impression in bed, but this isn't what I had in mind. I'll share some thoughts on the whole experience. My review is to explain why it didn't work for the two of us. Different people have different needs. Sleeping: Our sleep style is that we sleep on our sides, spooning. Two bodies interlocked like this resulted in a sizable valley in the bed. Now, as my beloved pointed out, that wasn't always a bad thing. It meant that I fell easily in the groove there if I shifted about at night. Overheating, as mentioned, was an issue. I'm sure I won't mind that too much for a few months each year. But even with the recent temperature drop we experienced here on the East Coast, it turned into a furnace. My deal-breaker. This bed was definitely softer than I cared for. I sought more support. As far as our body types, I'm rather average. 5'4", a little thicker than I used to be, size 14 jeans. Boyfriend is 6'6" and clocking in at 280 lbs. Combined, we can demand a bit more of our furniture than most. Intimacy: Without having already slept in the bed, there was some good bouncy buoyancy that we could enjoy, which also resulted in a little more endurance for our legs during our marathon playtime. We liked this. But that chemical smell could get a little overwhelming. My man pointed out that when he buries his face in my neck and can't smell me, just foam mattress smell, it's interfering. Morning romps had an added challenge. Going from our crater in the middle of the bed to one side of the bed or the other meant that we were off balance. The middle didn't spring back quickly and any activity would be tilted. An uneven ride. And the big indentation would be without the buoyancy. Additionally, there is no edge support at all. Without any edge support, any activity that would involve the sides of the bed was not on the menu. Also, I came to realize that I missed having those ropey seam bindings that are on the edges of traditional mattresses as they are great for grabbing onto during certain positions. We really wanted to like this. The price point, the ease of delivery, were attractive features. We even think nice things about foam because we have one of the Liberator pieces of furniture. But the issues added up to too much for us to pretend we were happy with it. We've really been learning that as much as we like our-friend-the-internet, some things you really do need to experience in person. Our chapter with this mattress taught us plenty about what we do and don't want. If I can find the right combination of firm support with some bounciness, in our price range, then we'll have our next mattress. Until then, we're glad we didn't throw out his old mattress. We sent this one back. In order to ship it back we layered two mattress storage bags from opposite ends and secured it wrapping that packing cling wrap that is available from moving suppliers like Uhaul. Thanks Amazon for being great about returns. I wish this bed had worked for us.
