This ramp board is a nice piece. It feels very solid. However, the manufacturer decided to apply a varnish or polyurethane to the wood PRIOR to adding the grip tape. This created a barrier and doesn't allow the tape to stick. Mine was peeling up as I took it out of the box. In order to attempt to prevent this, I applied contact cement under the grip tape, but even that wouldn't stop the tape from sliding off the moment you step onto the box and apply a sheer force to the tape as your foot tries to slide down the box. If they were smart, they would have either put the tape on before the varnish, or applied the varnish, sanded down the areas where the tape would go, then apply it. Obviously they chose not to do this, and if I wanted to do that much work, I could just build the thing from scratch myself. Not a complicated design.
