The design of the valve severely restricts water flow and pressure. Without the valve in place I operate two impact sprinklers well, but with this timer valve inline it does not even flow enough pressure to operate the mechanisms. It seems that the manufacturer must use a solenoid style valve to save costs, but this does not work as well as a ball valve, but does keep costs reasonable. Take a look at the photo which shows the small hole restriction that the water first encounters!
