Flexport failure means seed just pours through
When we first hung this feeder, on June 8 (about 10 weeks ago), we loved it. It seemed to deter the squirrels and larger birds as advertised, the perches did seem to accommodate a variety of birds, and the glass container and the "Sure-Lock" mechanism for the top were terrific.
I also really liked the idea of this Flexport that they tout, but the Flexport is a fatal flaw. The "petals" of our Flexports have already been broken away by the birds' use (or by squirrels, not sure which), and so the Flexports have become Big Holes at the bottom of the feeder through which the seed pours until it settles to the level of the bottom of the former Flexports. Which means the feeder is essentially unusable.
So, for two months or so, it was an awesome feeder. For $35, I feel like we should have gotten more than two months' use out of it.
(Suggestion: Maybe the Flexports could be made of silicone instead of the plastic being used, which probably became brittle in the sun and then was able to be broken off by the wildlife using it.)
