This product was at the top of every top 10 review list online for best roaster oven. Given that, we purchased two of them for our business. Right after plugging in one of the units, it started smoking from inside the unit (between the outside metallic casing and the black base. I have included a video for you to watch. The smoke smell was that of an electrical fire. The outside of the unit got extremely hot to the touch. It should have been a huge red flag that Amazon and/or the manufacturer are selling refurbished (what they now try to call "renewed" to try and make it sound less defective) units on the same page as the new units. Clearly Oster should move their manufacturing out of China, start making a higher quality product, and charge 10% more for their higher costs. I would rather pay more and get a safe, long lasting unit that doesn't cause electrical fires straight out of the box.
