REVISED - please see second update
I read through all the reviews before I purchased this item, and I made sure to carefully test the product against all the criticisms with a stop watch and a cooking thermometer. Here are my results:
Heat - If you start off with tolerably hot water (110 degrees) and use the heat and bubbles setting, the water will cool to body temperature in about ten minutes. If you start off with the same tolerably hot water and do NOT engage the heat and bubbles, the water will cool to body temperature in about eleven minutes - roughly the same amount of time. And since you can't engage the heat without also engaging the bubbles (and it's the bubbles that cool the water so quickly), you just need to accept that this is a ten-minute foot bath.
Attachments - I used all three attachments, and found it much easier to use them when I added a few drops of liquid soap to eliminate the friction. It took a while to get the hang of it - the correct amount of pressure to apply, positioning my foot properly, etc. - but once I did, I found they worked very well. The pumice stone in particular produced significant results after only one use.
Also, I telephoned the manufacturer and was assured this product is pba-free.
Update - the first unit stopped working after a about ten days so I exchanged it. The process took about a week, and the second unit is working fine.
SECOND UPDATE - the replacement spa also malfunctioned - this time it took a month - so I have to change my initial review from five stars to one.
