What a huge disappointment
I bought this TV on sale through Amazon and shipped by Amazon. I've never had any issues with purchasing through Amazon before, so I bought this without thinking twice. I was thinking that even if I by chance got a defective unit or a damaged product that a replacement through Amazon would be no issue, well I was wrong. Receiving the TV - This TV was scheduled to come with "enhanced delivery" which is advertised as them unboxing, inspecting for damage and plugging it in. When they arrived they hesitantly brought it up the stairs and left without doing so much as looking at the box for damage let alone helping me (a very small woman) put it where it needs to go. I got help from family to move it and set it up on my own, so it wasn't a huge issue but very misleading advertising on somebody's part. I was just happy to finally have my TV. No stars taken off for delivery issues. Let's get to the TV! Setting up the TV - First turning the TV on was great, started right up and the background screen savers it had on it looked fantastic, so I was anxious to get going with it and finally try it out. The television's standard settings that it has are very dull, which is expected that you would need to do some fine tuning to the settings to get it to one's preference. Now here is where things start to get frustrating, after getting all of the apps updated and signing in I was anxious to try out the UHD-HDR streaming on this TV through Amazon Video on the TV. When I first turned on the show Top Gear (UHD) the screen went into the HDR Standard picture mode and was very dim and had dull color so I adjusted my settings and it looked great...until I exited the app and went back in to find my color settings completely removed. So I tried again, and again, and again and every different way I tried no setting would save. And at the same time this all was happening I was getting a constant message in the top right corner telling me that my wired Ethernet connection kept disconnecting. I thought now it's time to try and do a little research and see if there is any obvious reason why this is happening, so on to that. Trying to fix it on my own - The only solution I could find online is that my TV may have been put into "store" mode and after double and triple checking that it wasn't and factory resetting the TV multiple times, I had no more resources at my disposal to try and fix this without contacting Amazon or LG support. As for the internet connection, I could not find any information on a way to fix that for myself. And as you can imagine a smart TV without internet doesn't really do anyone much good. Contacting Amazon support - Contacted Amazon technical support (free for 60 days after purchase) and after about 2 hours of chatting they admitted the item was defective but said they could not offer a replacement because they were out of stock, but I was welcome to get a refund for the sale price and purchase it from another seller for $200 more. That didn't really sit well with me, as I just wanted the defective unit they sold me replaced or repaired as I also had options to purchase this exact TV from local retailers for the same sale price, but that window had now closed because I decided to buy from Amazon. I reached the point of support where the representatives just told me again and again that "there is no more insight we can give you into this matter". Ok, I'll try the LG support because this comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty and Amazon has admitted the product is defective. Contacting LG Support - As soon as I contacted LG support the representative on the phone promptly said I would need to do a 3-way call with LG and Amazon, even though I had spent hours previous to this with support on Amazon already. Still, I wanted this TV to work and was willing to go along with it. The LG representative immediately disconnected herself from the call and I was left explaining the situation again to Amazon without anyone from LG even there to hear it as well. So I called back and was reconnected with the same LG representative as before and we went through and did all of the trouble shooting steps I had done on my own and with the Amazon representatives as well, as expected nothing was fixed. I spent a total of two and half hours on the phone doing troubleshooting with LG only for the representative to tell me that the internet connection and the lack of picture settings saving were not technical issues and that I would need to take it to a repair shop and pay for it on my own. 3rd Party Warranty - I even purchased 3rd party warranty through Amazon when I purchased the TV, however that doesn't kick in until after the manufacturer's warranty expires (1 year). My overall experience with this TV, Amazon, and the manufacturer (LG) has been abysmal. I really enjoyed this TV when it was working, but when the color settings will not save and the internet doesn't work and you have no options to get a replacement, there is nothing enjoyable about it.
