Better than expected. Very important to insulate the floor if you reside in an area with cold winter months. We have been in the 20's all week at night low 40's during the day. No problem maintaining 103 F. Prior to install we put down a 2" layer of rubber playground mulch. To prevent settling we applied a 1" layer of paver sand and the provided thermal base. This will do a wonderful job insulating the tub as well as a very comfortable sitting experience.
