We got this book in addition to two others in the hopes of teaching our son sign language. When flipping through the first two books I became a little overwhelmed, but then I got to this one... it is perfect for beginning to learn sign language. It has 14 very basic and often used signs. I started doing these signs when my son was about 4 1/2 months old. Most commonly 'milk'. He is now 6 1/2 months and already giggles and gets VERY excited when I make the sign to him, he knows whats coming! :) I look forward to him being able to sign back to me one day! We have now mastered all 14 of these signs and use them every day and have now moved on to the next books!
