Nothing like a little Velcro courage!
Ok so my situation is a little different than most...I have a 100lb Rhodesian Ridgeback that's <ahem> afraid of the floor. It started as just a section of four 12x12 tiles leading into and out of our kitchen. He would stand in the kitchen (laid with the same tile mind you) with one toe on the sink mat and stare at this section like it was booby trapped. And his solution in his simple mind to get from point A to point B? Hop on all his nails, pull a Fred Flintstone style burnout and fishtail out of the kitchen until he either hit the carpet, the wall, or me. While we tried to work through it, he figured out that the same jerk that rigged the kitchen tile also booby trapped the fairly new Brazilian cherry dining room floor...all 3 transitions to and from the runner that ran through that room.
Unable to train him through this we had to come up with something to save our floors and these boots turned out to be it. He was a little hesitant at first as expected but in no time he built up his courage with these things on. Of course the fact that he couldn't get up on his nails and flail helped a lot. The fit and grip seem to be pretty comfortable; he still walks a bit like a duck with the unmistakable "fwup fwup fwup" sound he makes but he really seems to like them. They have held up well over the last month we've had them and they've been used inside and out. They stay on and haven't had any issues with them coming off as long as the Velcro straps are run through the loop in the back. All in all I'm happy I came across these.
1/27/14 Update - I came back to order another set and completely forgot I wrote this review. These boots have been awesome and lasted a long time in my opinion. We have used these through 2 winters for outside paw protection in addition to the training tool. My pal broke from these after a few months in our house but we dragged them everywhere we traveled to help him feel comfortable on the different surfaces. We bought these in large and they fit great. We ended up buying another set in medium for our greyhound for her outdoor use - those are still holding up great. Both sets endured a lot of use and fairly regular washing machine cleanings and held up well all things considered.
