I purchased this to use with my gel nail polish when my previous dryer stopped working. I comes with a bonus 'accessories' package of some convenient mani/pedi tools, including goves to protect the skin on the hands when drying fingernails. The timer can be set for 30, 60 or 90 secs as needed [displayed in large font on a digital screes], and the light comes on automatically when the hand or foot is moved under it. As it doesn't come with specific instructions for working with gel nail polish, you would need to already be familiar with how to use gel polish, or look up more detailed information on your own. As a replacement dryer or as a great, lightweight, easy to use nail dryer to go with your existing gel polish kit, this is a great choice!
