The best out of all the reusable discs I’ve used
I have used the Luma disc, Nixit, and the Ziggy disc. The Ziggy just could not stay in place. Maybe it was the oblong shape, but it just didn’t work for me. The Luma disc size Large was much better, more like the firmness of the disposable discs; but the silicone is sort of slippery and plasticky and sometimes it would leak. The Nixit disc was the best with the double rim, I felt like the texture of the silicone helped to hold and mould it to fit my body. Then the Moonthlies disc came out! I first heard of this new disc from a lady on YouTube, her channel is now called Period Nirvana(formerly Put A Cup In It).
What I love about this disc is the rim is the firmest I think out of all the current reusables. I loved the rim on the disposable discs because I could easily get it in place and not have the silicone squishing every which way. Removal was easier too. Same with this reusable disc. Granted, this is thick silicone on the rim and not some kind of plastic. However, due to the thickness of the rim, it allows for a better grip for easier insertion and removal. The pull tab isn’t really helpful for me. I still feel that the best way to remove is to bear down like having a bowel movement to slightly push the disc out from behind the pelvic bone and the grab the top of the rim and pull it out carefully trying to make as little mess as possible. This is the best price out of all the reusable discs. I knew the large disc was going to fit me because I had great success with the SoftDisc disposable ones and this is the same size. It’s nice that they give you the smaller size just in case, though.
Lastly, the thin silicone of the bowl part is really nice because I feel like it doesn’t squish up reducing the capacity to hold fluid. The Luma silicone was much thicker, so sometimes I would find that the silicone would get pushed up reducing its capacity. Absolutely ZERO leaks with this disc. I don’t even feel the need for backup protection...it’s that good! The key is making sure that it’s fully down and back towards your tailbone as far as it will go, then just tuck the front rim up behind the pubic bone. That’s true for any disc, but this one is just so easy to get the correct placement.
I wasn’t given this in exchange for a review. I’m just on a quest to find the perfect reusable disc. Cups never worked for me. Always leaked, or they wouldn’t open correctly. None of that with discs! If you’re on the fence about this one, buy it! To me, this is the best reusable disc out now; and there aren’t many options.
