Not possible to change activation to transfer/ported number once new number has been assigned. You get one chance so do it right the first time around. My biggest gripe with MintSim is limited customer support and ability to make changes. For example, if you've activated your plan and have gotten a new number, there's no way to transfer old number. I'm going to guess the same goes for transfering old number, to get a new number on same sim card is not possible. To make any of these sort of changes, you'll need to close out your account and purchase new one.
Inexpensive plan - I couldn't find anything less expensive for $15 and get 2GB per month. The $15-20 price range tends to get you 1GB per month with limited talk time or some sort of limitation of the day. After 3 months the price does go up to $23/month which is not great. After the initial 3 months, the only way (as of 9/4/2017) to stay on a $15/month payment would be to buy an annual plan which costs you $180 + tax.
Pros
- inexpensive plans for 2GB/ 5GB or 10GB per month.
- website for managing your account is fairly simple and intuitive. It does spell out how much data you've used and how much is left at any given time.
-Transfer old number is fairly quick. Mine occurred in less than 3hrs. Although the expected time should be 24hrs.
Cons:
- limited customer support
- changes to plan such as changing from new number to transfer number is not possible. This is very inconvenient if you screw up and mistakenly go through the activate (new number process)
- limited coverage. We've gone on road trips and noticed the mintsim cellphone had no service even though my other Verizon phone had 1 or 2 bars.
