I was surprised it came in small package...it did open up and become very firm! I use this for laying in the floor along with another wedge for my upper body and it works perfectly ..if you planning on sleeping with it and staying in one position all night its wonderful because it doesn't slide or move easily...foam doesnt smell so no need to air out for a couple of days
