I wasn't going to spend $90+ for a "professional" mandolin slicer and this product was highly rated on Amazon. I purchased it and tested it out (cucumbers and potatoes, if you must know) and was pleased with how it cut. But I discovered it was missing a small part. I contacted the seller who promptly resolved the problem. For those that complain it can't slice tomatoes, well, I doubt even the $100 mandolins can, either. The structural integrity of a tomato is just too low. Use a knife. If you REALLY want to test a mandolin, try it on something really hard, like a large carrot.
