For me, it worked better than expected with surprising results
First of all, I'm a guy. I'm not gay. I'm not even metro. I'm just a very straight, masculine, middle-aged, married guy. So while rating a nail polish isn't something I ever imagined I'd be doing, this stuff has really helped me out.
I have a condition with one of my thumb nails that causes it to have significant ridges. We're talking serious mountains and canyons here! Not sure what causes it or why it's doesn't happen to other nails on my hands, but it's a royal pain. It also makes my nail really thin. And when the nail grows out such that a 'canyon' becomes exposed to the tip, it tears and shreds easily and is very annoying. One day my wife must've had enough of my complaining and found this stuff for me to try. Of course I balked at idea of wearing nail polish, but she persuaded me that since it was clear, no one would ever notice I had it on. So I tried it for a week (very aware I was wearing nail polish and casually keeping my shiny thumb out of site as much as possible).
First thing I noticed was that it did indeed give my nail (yep, I only wear it on the one) a little more bulk and seemed to add a little strength to it, so much so that when the next 'canyon' grew out, it did a pretty descent job of preventing the tearing and shredding I was used to. It wasn't perfect, but did a pretty good job. But then something unexpected happened. After a few weeks, I noticed that as new nail was growing out onto my thumb, it was coming in ridgeless, completely smooth! At first I just thought it was a section of my nail growing out normally for a time (as it did occasionally), but as the weeks progressed, the nail continued to grow out smooth! I showed it to my wife, noting that half the nail closest to the tip was still ridged with another mountain and canyon, but that the half closest to the cuticle was smooth and normal. She said the polish must've had something in it that I needed. Well, Duh! I just wish I knew what that something was, so I could put it on my nail without all the shiny varnish stuff. Anyway, I kept at it, applying this stuff a few times a week for a few months and eventually I had a perfectly normal looking thumbnail! No kidding, it was pretty remarkable. But then one day I thought, "is it really normal looking because of the polish or could it be something else (like, diet, or maybe a medication change or something like that)? So I stopped using it and within a few weeks I had developed a huge canyon in my nail again!
Then, in a recent move, we lost the remaining bottle. So I popped into the local Walmart and bought another one, but it was blue -- not exactly the same stuff. Same brand, but wasn't exactly the same. I tried it for several weeks, but it didn't do anything. Still had ridges. Then one day the original bottle showed up, but the stuff inside was thick and crusty and I couldn't get the lid off without breaking it. But using the product number from the bottle, I found it again on Amazon. Been using it again for 10 days now and though my nails have a little added strength as before and while the end-results are promising, it's probably still too early to tell if it will cure my ridge problem again. But I'm counting on it.
Anyway, good stuff! For me anyway.
