for the price this is a decent quad copter although it has some technical issues
In actuality I give this 3.5 stars. LEARNING CURVE AND SUGESTIONS FOR BEGINNERS: I have flown rc helicopters since 2009 and can fly rc airplanes. prior experience with rc models let me fly this without a problem but for a beginner it may be more difficult. if you are getting this for a beginner or are a beginner you would want to do one or some of the following A) get extra blades (they break when you hit things hard enough) B) get the prop protector ring (if you are a beginner it will save props when you crash into things C)make a prop protector ring ( if you have the skill to make one then you don't need to buy it) back to the quad FLIGHT PERFORMANCE: It has 3 flight modes that limit how far the quad will tilt with stick imput (does not affect yaw rate) to swich between modes the left stick is clicked mode 1 lowest manuverability mode 2 medium manuverabiity mode 3 high manuverability flip mode is enabled with the right stick by clicking it the throttle is somewhat sensitive and the yaw rate is the gyro stabilizes the quad copter well for any advanced pilots who want something to play with while they're in the house, it is possible to flip the quad without using the integraded flip mode however it is difficult and i would not suggest trying it in a room with a hard floor (unless you want to face the possibility of gunning the throttle while it's upside down. it can also do funnels DURABILITY: As mentioned above the blades break when the hit something hard enough the frame will also crack if hit hard enough after some crashes the motor will sieze up. I don't know the cause of this but taking the prop off and carefully applying alot of pressure to the moror shaft seems to resolve the issue. if hair gets stuck in the motor just take the prop off and remove it. with the training ring/blade protector it will protect the quad better from crashes CONTROLLER: the controller is small has thumbpads and is better suited for the bare thumbs style sorry for you people who like to pinch the sticks it uses 2 AAA batteries and as a result probably doesn't a large range outside, there are trim buttons for the pitch and roll but not yaw (doesn't really need it for yaw) BATTERY: The battery is a 1 cell 3.7v 100 mhA Li-PO it is soldered to the control board brand new it gets about 4 minutes 20 seconds of continuous nonstop flying time but if you fly it a lot maybe 5 or 6 times a day the battery will wear down I am currently getting 2 minutes 20 seconds of flight time charges quickly in about 20 minutes i plan on replacing it with a 130mhA battery TECHNICAL PROBLEMS: as mentioned above a motor will sometimes sieze after a crash. I don't know what causes it but I fix it by pressing on the shaft with a hard object. my blue lights stopped working. the blue lights indicate when it is in bind mode when it is connected to the controller and when the battery is low. this happened after a crash I do not know the cause of the lights failing or if it is related to the crash. sometimes when adjusting the trim in flight or if the trims are set to an extreme setting (clicking it in one direction a million times) the gyro will freak out and correct in the wrong direction only the blue lights blink to indicate if it is connected and if the battery is low this is a problem since my blue lights are dead the instruction manuel is useless SERVICABILITY: only 4 screwes hold the plastic frame together the props are friction fit and pop on and off the motors are soldered to the circuit board but new motors can be soldered to the board or to the old motor wires the battery is soldered to the board but a new one can be soldered onto the old battery wires most of the structural strength comes from the printed circuit board and the plastic part of the frame can be removed to reduce weight but the motors are not glued or attached to the printed circuit board so you will need to glue them if you do this SUGGESTIONS FOR THE MANUFACTURER: Fix the motor siezing issue fix what causes the blue LEDs to stop working fix what causes the gyro glitch at extreme trim settings NOTES: turn the quad on then the transmitter you must move the throttle stick all the way up and back down to bind with the quad the quad must be on a flat level surface when turned on so the gyro can initialize properly. PRICE: the price is right
