I am really liking this knee pillow. It is the right height to keep my knees in line with my hips when I sleep. (I was fighting with a regular pillow before I bought this one.) It stays in place thanks to the adjustable strap. I am not waking up with any back pain. The cover is super soft too, almost like a baby blanket. Another bonus for me is that it doesn't smell. Sometimes memory foam pillows have a weird smell when they are new, but this one doesn't. I can't comment on the ear plugs because I haven't used them and I won't. I use a CPAP and that machine is like a white noise machine for me. I don't need ear plugs to muffle sound.
