Performed ok ... poor longterm longevity
This light arrived in four business days. Was easy to install onto the pullies that my 2ft, four bulb T5 light fixture was on. The LED light has been over my plants about four days now, and they seem to like it. The light is very bright, and (after I put on sun glasses) was able to verify that all LEDs are on and functioning. To this point, my only complaint is that there was something rattling around inside the light when it arrived. So I had to remove the light from the chassis to see if it was damaged, before I turned it on. I found a screw bouncing around inside that was meant to be used to mount the circuit board with the LEDs to the frame. I was actually pretty impressed with the solid construction of the unit. Solder joints were nice and tidy, and proper color, wiring was done well and with quality materials. However, to have a screw bouncing around in there was unforgivable. So, I deducted on star from my rating. One other thing about power consumption with these LED lights. They have banks of cooling fans constantly running, which would seem to me to use quite a bit of power. Compared to a T5, I'm not sure if there would be much saving on power consumption. Although, the overall growth of the plant might be better with a LED. For me, the jury is still out on whether the light will perform better ... I'll update this in a few months with results of the grow compared to other lights I've used. ======================== Update: This light performed perfectly! I grew a couple autoflowers under it. Harvested them yesterday. The yields were above average, and buds were large, firm, and resinous. I am quite pleased with it. Although, I still have to leave one star off, due to minor flaws in quality (the bouncing screw, and one of the hanging wires broke). ======================== Update#2: I've had this light now for over a year. I ran it for about 3 months last Spring. It performed well. Decided to use it for another run this Spring, after about 9 months in storage in the garage. This time around, it looks like two LEDs have not lit up. That's pretty poor for a light that claims 50,000 hours for it's LEDs. The light has not even been used for more than 500 hours, and the LEDs are already starting to fail. ... In LED lights when the individual bulbs start to fail then the load on the power supply becomes unbalanced, and this causes more LEDs to fail more quickly. it also screws up the spectrum coverage. ... I'm going to continue with this light for now, but looks like I won't be able to use it for any other grows... Cheap LEDs, and the screw bouncing around inside, are not cool ... I'll update again to see how it does during this grow cycle, and report on how the rest of the bulbs perform ======================== Update#last: Used this light for about a week. Plants were growing ok under it, but I didn't like that it had burned out LEDs. So, bought a new light from a different company, with better spectrum coverage and LEDs are working. I installed it last night. I'll still use this light for vegetables waiting to be transplanted into the garden, but won't use it for herb. ======================== Final Analysis: This is good, inexpensive LED grow light, but for the price, do not expect it will last 50,000 hours. I had a couple successful grows with it. I'm very disappointed in the long term quality of the light. There are similarly priced, newer lights available with better spectrum coverage. I do recommend this light as a transition LED grow light. It will grow plants and keep them healthy, but only for a year or two of use.
