We have a winner! With a few things to note
We have a winner here. Check out my photos and details. Cliff Notes: For the price it's as good as it's going to get. Longer version: There's a lot of people claiming cree but not using cree. I've been through a couple lights/sellers and finally I got what is actually in the photo. I took these apart to do some inspecting, and what I found made me happy. Let's not forget the price, these aren't $200 pods. I paid $37.99 for "Auxbeam 2 Pcs 7" 36W LED Light Bar 3600LM CREE Driving Light Spot 30 Degree Waterproof for SUV UTV Jeep Truck Off-Road 4WD Boat Ford" Construction is pretty good overall. Housing is made out of aluminum, the wiring is actually good enough that I'm going to leave it. I had planned on replacing/re soldering with better wire but it's not needed here on these. Once I opened them up, there was a good rubber seal on the end caps. I removed that and took out the poly lens which is pretty thick. I removed the reflectors and got down to the bare board and led's. As you can see in one of the photos, the solder points are nice and solid. This is great, I've seen some pretty cheap and terrible jobs but this one checks out. I wasn't able to confirm 100% that the led's are cree as there were no marking and I would have to unsolder the led to dig deeper into it, but I'm happy with it, as typical of cree it's a edge to edge yellow square with a good bubble on top, which is an easy way to spot a cree type led. I unscrewed the board and found an adequate amount of thermal paste on the back of the aluminum board the led's were on. I've seen some not have any so i'm satisfied with what I found. What's unfortunate is that a combo isn't available in this size. I had considered buying a spot, and a flood and then taking them apart and swapping half the reflectors so I had the combo I wanted but decided against it. Cons: There should probably be an extra couple screws on top for the sealing of the lens. As you can see in the photos, there is a lot of flex in the lens against the seal and it might be better if there was 4 or 5 instead of 3 screws on top and bottom for sealing/pressing the lens against the rubber seal underneath. TIPS: I absolutely would get a small bit of outdoor clear silicone caulk and add just a super tiny bead to the lens to be sure it doesn't leak like a few people are experiencing. If it gives me a better chance at having no water issues I'm willing to do it. I don't have photo's of that though. CONS: IT IS NOT 7" It is 6.5? from outside end cap to outside end cap. The center lens/led is only 5". See photo Overall take: For the price I couldn't really complain, I'm actually delighted. There are some slightly cheaper pods but I think I found the best value. I'm happy with what they are, for the price. I don't think they are 3,600 lumens but I can't for sure say since I don't own a lux sensor. I'll update with what it pulls power wise when I get my multi-meter from a friend back.
