Because so many reviewers complained about the thermometers' accuracy, I decided to test it myself: I checked the displayed temperatures 1) in my house, 2) outside on a warm day, 3) outside on a cool & rainy day, and 4) in my zero-degree upright freezer, against known accurate thermometers. In each case, the Taylor thermometer displayed temps to the nearest degree or two of the other thermometers, and that's close enough for me. If you need scientific, precise accuracy, be prepared to spend quite a bit more on a professional thermometer! As it is, I believe this is a good value for a general thermometer.
