This was bought as a gift and I just had to open and try it to see if it was a worthy gift offering no or little problems for the elderly recipient intended. I was very very pleased with the product, no disappointment here. Good size for holding and scanning a newsprint. Good size for elderly arthritic hands that tremor now and then. Not heavy or cumbersome. The light was an added feature that I didn't realize would enhance the product more. I will have no problem owning this magnifier if the 'intended' is not completely satisfied. In fact, I should just purchase my own!
