Shakes Away My Pain
I am not convinced that full body vibration platforms can possibly live up to ALL the online hype. That being said, I have found that when I have back pain, a short session on this frequently alleviates all my pain or at least helps reduce it. THIS IS A GODSEND! I have read that similar technology was used by NASA so astronauts could stay in space longer and not lose as much of their bone density. We can all benefit from that, surely. The idea of whole-body vibration as a detox tool is also appealing to me. We live in an increasingly toxic world. The oscilating vibrations are supposed to help improve lymphatic drainage. I don’t do a bunch of squats and such on this thing. It would be a step up for me to do them on solid ground! Bad knees. What I do is stand on it at a low setting, 15-25 or so and vary my foot positions from midway to wide stance. I will do stretches reaching for the ceiling, pivoting at the waist (looking behind me, left and right), bending down to touch my toes. I will do this for 5 to 10 minutes to work out the kinks when I am having back pain. I usually get relief. I have used it for upper body pain as well. In order to do this, I get down on all fours and place my arms in various positions on the platform. This really shakes and loosens up my arms and shoulders. I will place my forearms on the device, varying my positions from mid to wide. Then I will place my hands on the device and vary the positions from mid to wide. All on a lower speed, of about 15-30. Maybe it shakes the joints back into place? Massages the muscles? I don’t know! I do know that some Chiropractors use similar machines in their practices after an adjustment to “set” the adjustment. Again, I don’t really know much beyond that, but I’m sure it has its place as a rehabilitation tool. I also use this on the lower speeds in order to improve the circulation of the lymphatic system. It certainly is a good shake up. When I am in better shape, and have gained muscle, I would value it as workout tool, but right now I value it for circulation stimulation and pain relief. You get a link to exercise videos, which is nice. I am not using the included resistance bands at this time, but it is a good addition. The warranty is great, and was a huge buying influence for me. The color is a beautiful cheerful blue. Blue is my favorite color. Given a choice, I would prefer a neutral like black, which would fit in unobtrusively with decor better. I have used this on carpet as well as hardwood floors and it works great on either. I appreciate the wheels and handle to make this easy to move, as it is very heavy and sturdily built. There is a raised grid texture to stand on. You certainly won't slip off it. This makes it uncomfortable for me in bare feet but is perfectly fine with shoes. The remote is very handy and works well. There are 3 programmed speed settings, low, medium and high. I prefer to just press start and adjust it with the up and down buttons to find that perfect setting. The red digital read-out is easy to read. I did receive a unit that had a loose power cord connection. I contacted the seller who stepped up and sent me a new cord, along with apologies and a nice card. The new cord fit fine and didn’t vibrate out of place like the original. I believe this seller really wants to provide the best possible products, fair price, and excellent customer service. Trust them!
