Female Carpenter Review
I’m a carpenter apprentice working in concrete. I go to the chiropractor regularly (once a month) and recently learned I had a bulging disc. My doc showed me a stretch I could do to aid this ailment but it wasn’t cutting it. I wear a harness most of the day with tool bags weighing approx 20-50lbs. The numbness / major discomfort I’d been experiencing in the front outside ball of my right foot (I was told was the product of my bulging disc) became a daily thing. So I researched inversion tables but didn’t want to impede my closet space. And then I found this apparatus. I already had the pull-up bar so it seemed a no-brainer.
1 week and a half later and I’m singing the braces praises to all of my coworkers. I use it daily, sometime twice because I crave the natural relief. We stretch every morning before work as a crew and I’ve noticed I’m moving with much greater ease. My lower back (near my tailbone) is no longer making me feel old. Prior to the use of the brace I couldn’t roll up from a lay down position (similar to doing a sit up). Instead I’d have to roll on my side then use my arms to prop up my body. Seriously, at 34, I shouldn’t be ready for life alert commercial moves. I’m also no longer dying to take off my bags like I had been. Yes they’re heavy but my body is again feeling up to the challenge.
I don’t know if my disc is still bulging as the pain in my foot has yet to subside (although it seems to have decreased), but I will continue to use daily and perhaps increase the length of time in which I use it.
I’m 5’6”, approx 140lbs and ordered a small. It’s been the right fit. I will say as a female it would be amazing if the straps didn’t fall right over my boobs. It is straight uncomfortable and def not made with a woman’s shape in mind, but the relief it gives me has to outweigh the discomfort I feel when I’m sitting / hanging in it.
If they make a women’s version, I’d be really stoked on this.
There are also not any arm loops to hang my arms as indicated in the instructional videos, but I don’t find that that harms the experience. I do think it would make it more comfortable however.
I didn’t find it a challenge to assemble as other reviewers seemed to but I do agree, that the brace in the video is a nicer version / prototype vs what you receive as the customer. It’s bare bones. But it seems to be helping, so put down the pain pills and try a safer remedy to give you relief.
