Best Bluetooth Wireless Speaker on the Market!
I got this speaker after reading several reviews on Amazon and other pro-audio web sites, some of which were negative because of the feature set, set-up process and price. Boy were they wrong and I am ecstatic with the purchase. I have used and/or owned wireless Bluetooth speakers by Bose and others. What makes this speaker the best that exists is its ease of use, sound and portability. First off, it was super easy to pair with both my iPhone and Androide with no problems. Joining my home wifi network was also very easy (I have a Linksys WRT1900AC router) and took only minutes (it is 2.4ghz compatible). It fully charged within 90 minutes (and yes, contrary to some other reviews, the speaker displays charge level on the top of the speaker). It is very light (I have rib injuries and it was easy to move with the built in handle). I used it with Pandora streaming audio, Youtube videos, and music on my home network, both inside my home and in my back yard. The range is awesome with the Bluetooth (I got over 50 feet away and it worked fine), the sound, well that's where it excelled. The bass is pounding and clear, the treble high and clear. Both ran without distortion when turned almost all the way up. It is very loud for a portable wireless speaker, in my opinion the loudest in its class. The speaker stand sits anywhere in a sturdy manner and can charge your iPhone/Android while charing using it's a/c adapter, a handy feature. The buttons are in keeping with Harmon Kardon's simple approach to design and that's great, it makes using it easy. Some complained about the lack of a remote control, which boggles my mind when we all have way to many small portable devices, dongles, batteries, chargers to keep track of. You simply use the app.'s controls to control the sound and input on the unt, i.e. the song, video, etc. Also to the contrary of some, it has an aux. jack on the back for input of other sound devices, but again, who would want to use this when the impetus for buying a wireless Bluetooth speaker is portability. Which brings to to yet another bogus complaint. If you want a speaker you can put in your pocket and carry with you, then that speaker is not going to be powerful and full of features. The Onyx is a fabulous wireless speaker which rivals many wired home theater speakers. But is is also light and small enough to carry around the house and/or yard. It is stylish and blends in with our home decor (I got the white speaker). The key to any wireless device, in my opinion, is if I am going to use it on a daily basis which is heavily influenced by its ease of use, power and feature set, and portability. Most important in this case, does it sound great, better than my Android/laptop speakers. The clear ad easy answer is yes and by a mile over the competitors, e.g. Bose. It's louder, has better range, is as portable, has as many usable features, and is priced right.
