I have two kids a 3-year-old and an infant. I also have a husband that wants to talk to me while said children are yelling crying you know doing what kids do. I tend to get really overwhelmed with all the sound. Especially bad when I'm trying to cook or pay the bills or just think deeply about something. It's one of the things that makes me feel like a bad Mom. I blow up way too often just because of too much sound. When I saw these advertised on facebook I decided to get them even though I thought they were just overpriced ear plugs. I got them on sale and paid like $14 for them. They come with multiple different ear hole adapters (probably not the correct term). I've used the ear hole adapters for other things too like my bluetooth ear buds so that's a perk. As far as the sound reduction goes. One concern is I did need to be able to actually hear my children. As long as they're in the same room as me I can definitely still do that. I can also watch TV with them in with subtitles. It's hard to hold a conversation at times because when I'm talking all I can hear is my own voice. I definitely cannot eat while using these as the sound of my crunching drowns out everything else. I will definitely purchase these again if the time comes because they've definitely made me a calmer nicer mom. I only use them once or twice a day when I feel my blood boiling from the sound and it instantly makes me more at peace. I keep them pinned on my clothes at all times with a diaper pin. They come with a tiny pouch that I can slide a pin through the zipper.
