I developed a sensitivity to nickel over the past year which the earrings I've worn forever (cheaper costume jewelry studs) were made of. So much so that the nickel in any earring I put into my ears, slowly burned its way through my lobe eventually splitting it completely in half earlier this year. Had to go to the plastic surgeon to get it repaired and I've been really cautious about earrings I purchase ever since. I was hesitant to purchase anything that wasn't super expensive, because I felt like nickel is hidden everywhere and it would most likely be hidden in a less expensive pair of earrings. When I saw these earrings were 14K gold and plated in platinum, I still was concerned that the manufacturer perhaps had used nickel as well, thus the 'plating.' But I was pleasantly WRONG! I've had these on non-stop since I got them a couple weeks ago and no irritation at all. WOOT!! Additionally, there is a double-locking mechanism on the post, which in my opinion is a better option than the screw-on back. I have not-fat lobes, so with the screw-on backs, my studs would droop. But with the double-locking on the post, I can put the back all the way against my lobe and the earring sits perfectly and I don't have to worry about the back coming loose or falling off. Additionally, I'm a triathlete (swim/bike/run) so I'm always concerned about how studs will hold up/stay on during workouts. And so far so good. Finally, the Swarovski crystal is gorgeous. Not too gaudy and not cheap looking. They're PERFECT! I purchased the 6.5 mm 2 carat weight (1 carat per earring). SUPER pleased with this purchase will definitely purchase from this seller again.
