Let me start off saying, in light of all the paid-for reviews on here anymore, that I didn't receive compensation, of any kind, for my review. I paid $149 on Amazon.com like you are contemplating now; so I thought a truly impartial review was in order! I don't take the time to write lots of reviews, but when I come across a product that stands out as either being: fantastic, or fantastically horrible, I feel I should let others know. In this case, the DeLonghi Slim Style Convector space heater DeLonghi America HCX9115E Slim Style Convector Heater IS a fantastic product!!! Few companies, Apple being one of companies that do, understand that if they make a product that performs well and looks good doing it, they will have a smash hit on their hands... and DeLonghi must have read the memo when they designed this heater! I keep this space heater, not tucked away in the corner, but right out in the media room of my basement... because it looks good while heating my space! This heater is not only dead silent 99.999% of the time, but uses a fraction of the electricity as the Honeywell oil filled electric radiator that I used to use. The DeLonghi convector has Eco mode and a true thermostat that regulates the heat settings for you. I was a little shocked that it didn't come with a remote control, but quickly realized that a remote wasn't necessary. The heater will heat the space you put it into, at the temperature you set it to, all without fuss. When a lot of heat is needed quickly, the very quiet fans will kick in, and boy do they work! My basement will go from 50 degrees to 70 degrees in about 30 minutes versus about 2 hours with the oil filled radiator I used to use. The anti-freeze setting is a great feature that will heat the space you put it into enough to prevent your pipes from freezing/bursting while you are away from your house! The heater comes with both feet and a wall mount. I chose to install the feet on my heater because I wanted to maintain it's portability. Wheels are not necessary as this heater is very lightweight... especially compared to the oil filled radiator I used to use! I read other reviews about being concerned that the feet may break off if tipped over, but I am not concerned. The feet are small enough to not have to worry that they will break off, yet large enough to keep the heater safely upright. The "tip over" and "over-heat" protection safety features are comforting to know are there keeping me and my home safe! The heater looks to be well made and the parts all fit together nicely! The heater is made entirely out of metal except the feet and control panel, which are plastic. The control panel is located on the right side of the heater and it is stylishly angled so its not glaring at you, which is a good thing! The control panel, which is touch sensitive, is Very sensitive in dry weather!!! I have an Type A personality and whenever I am looking for a product to purchase I spend a "considerable amount" time doing research to make sure that I am buying a product that is well made and will last a long time. Also, I always look to make sure that whatever product I buy is energy efficient. Most people don't seem to realize that when they save a little money buying a cheaper product that they usually have HUGE long-term costs that will outweigh the original difference in product costs by several times! These long-term costs act like a silent tax imposed on people who do not do the research necessary to find and understand the value of a product like this one. These costs typically manifest themselves as increased energy bills for as long as they use that product! Not so with this heater, it has a very high build quality and seems quite durable so it should last a very long time! Also, I already know it is saving me money every month that I use it! Bottom line... If you are looking for an energy efficient space heater that works well and looks good while doing it, then you should seriously consider purchasing the DeLonghi Slim Style Convector space heater, it is worth every penny!
