I liked this movie, I read a few rotten tomatoes reviews, what the heck did people expect? Casablanca? Citizen Kane? Reviewing it for what it isn't even trying to be is unfair. This is a young persons and non cynical older persons whimsical monsters and armies movie. there is very little blood and gore for how many teeth the monsters have. I don't expect the Actors to go all out deep emotion trying for an oscar on this, it would have then sucked if any part had taken itself too seriously. But it achieved a nice balance of 'hey look at this crazy stuff' and 'oh ok heres some reason that crazy stuff just happened'. Really not much dialogue, just enough to fill the gaps. If you just want to see some monsters and armies battle scenes this should be fine as a rental. If you feel let down for $5-6 you may have matured beyond fantasy monsters on historical monuments themed movies, reevaluate your own decision making not this movies failure to touch your emotions and provide deep insight. I am pretty sure it is not trying to do either. There is like a 20 minute short film worth of space for story and dialogue in between all the swords and arrows and teeth. For me that is fine, they could take 30 years trying to rationally explain weird lizard armies attacking the great wall of China and I would likely still be calling BS. I don't feel like they tried to convince me so much as just offer a story for me to accept and enjoy or not, in a respectful dont take it serious just have fun way. So I did, I didn't take it serious and I had fun watching it. I cannot fathom how people can expect enough from this movie to find a complaint with it. Monsters attack great wall of China, what in that says expect deep plot and characters? expect teeth, lots of teeth, convincingly well modeled and textured computer generated teeth.
