Takes some steps before installing, but once up it looks and works great!
I've been wanting to install mirror tint on my home for a while for privacy and to reduce heat. This tint seemed to have decent reviews so I selected it. Not sure how it performs technologically against other brands or offerings. But I have never had the chance to see mirrored home tint installed in person, so the Lowe's display area was the only other time I've seen it. And I think this product performs better than what they offer.
That said, take some care before installing. The box is very tightly wound around a cardboard tube, and this material seems to have a lot of memory and wants to stay curled up. It is difficult to manipulate without kinking and may be impossible to install if freshly unwound because it will curl itself right off the window. I think this caused the difficulties and falling off others had mentioned.
What I did was unwind it from the packaging, and (very carefully) rewound it opposite of how it was shipped. Then I put it outside in the sun (90degree Texas sun) for a few hours to get hot, brought it inside to cool off. Then put it back outside in the sun to get hot. When I unwound it, it still was trying to curl a little back in the direction it was shipped, but at least most of it stayed flat. This made it easier to measure, cut, and hang.
I bought some spray fluid from Home Depot for $10, measured and cut with scissors.
A trick I found was to leave about 1/8in extra around the window size, spray the window and attach then tint. Then, I carefully lifted a corner of the the plastic trim around the window frame and pushed some of the tint in with the squeegie, and managed to get the 1/8 material behind this lip. This wound up great because I didn't have to cut precisely. More importantly, if the material tries to bend/curl out, it should get held in place by the window frame material.
Once installed and dry, I've been extremely happy with the mirror effect. It really makes an noticeable impact on the outside during the day. Sure you can still see in at night (if the room is brighter than the outside). It's tinted, but it's still better than having nothing.
