We like to cook so we needed a freezer and after reading hundreds of reviews for various sizes and models on Amazon we chose this unit. It had a good number of reviews (over 500) and less than 10% were 1 star. The unit was delivered yesterday. First thing I did was inspect the packaging from the outside to make sure there did not appear to be damage as others have indicated. All looked OK so I removed the carton and inspected the unit. Again, no damage. I picked up the freezer (it is not all that heavy and I am in my 60s) and put it where I wanted in my garage. As is recommended by all refrigerator / freezer manufacturers, I let the unit "settle" for two hours before plugging it in. After the siesta I plugged it in and set the temperature control about 3/4ths of the way to MAX. Within an hour or so the temperature was below 32 so I put about a dozen jars of frozen food, a few pounds of frozen butter, some frozen bread, etc. into the unit. A few hours later the internal temperature was -8 F. Perfect. I have no complaints AT ALL about this unit and highly recommend it.
