The real deal: 100% genuine silk inside and out
This is the real deal. It is expensive because it is actually made from Mulberry silk (Mulberry silk is made exclusively from the cocoons of silkworms fed on organic mulberry leaves). Silk is extremely gentle on hair. I have Zimasilk scrunchies. I embraced the return of scrunchies a couple years ago. I didn't expect there to be much difference in performance, but the silk absolutely beats out any other material when it comes to not tugging at the hair or drying it out. Never gets tangled up. So given that great experience, I needed to try their sleep cap, as I currently use a faux silk (polyester) cap to protect my middle of back, semi wavy semi curly hair.
Unlike the standard sleep cap, there is no tense elastic all around. There is just elastic at the back, and more of a turban style twist at the front (so no indentation marks left behind). It is comfortable.. BUT..
Well, it didn't stay on my head all night. It could be because I tossed and turned, it could be that my head is huge and there wasn't much additional room. Not sure.
My head measures 23.75"- that is a large cranium. I also have a lot of hair. So between the two, I maxed out the cap. You can see it in my pictures :(
If you have a smaller head (I bet you do), and either shorter hair, or less thick hair, then I wager this will stay on.
If the company could add the min/max head fit, that would be helpful to would-be buyers.
Even though the fit wasn't right for me for sleeping, I am actually more inclined to use it as a liner for my knit hats come winter. Sounds weird, but I wear a knit hat the moment it gets chilly (Oct/Nov) and all the way into Spring. I wear it inside and out, from morning until night. Many times I have wanted to find a liner for my hats so I didn't dry hair out worse, or tangle it up worse. I always tuck my hair up, which means all of it is getting roughed up in the hat. So long as the knit cap doesn't slid off, I will be doing this come winter. I'm excited to try it out.
And if I didn't use it for that, then simply as a way to keep my hair back all day when I am in the house would work for me too. It is comfortable and fancy looking (and feeling!)
Everything about the presentation is luxurious and special. I am extra impressed with how it is packaged. It comes in a slim sturdy classy feeling box with an attached lid (you'll want to keep it to store your cap, or for use for something else). The cap is wrapped in tissue that it held together by a sticker. It just has a look of pampering.
The cap I have is in the color, "light plum" which is a very faint purple-pink color.
