At 70 years of age I have developed pretty eclectic interests in music. I have a basic test I apply when providing a rating: It has to be interesting, it has to hold my attention, it has to be emotional, and to deserve my highest praise it has to create a pure visceral response - - - I actually feel it in my stomach, and has nothing to do with the bass level. I listened to "A Moon Shaped Pool" on Spotify" and could not interrupt it. It aced the test. I immediately ordered the album and it is spectacular through good speakers or head phones. It is a work of Art of a very high order, and among the best of Radiohead's finest. It demonstrates a new maturity, growth, and a willingness to expand their sound into lush orchestrated arrangements; yet it remains distinctly their music and very melodic. Yes its impact deepens with subsequent listenings, but for me I loved it instantly. The lyrics are available on line and only add to the enjoyment when a word is missed here or there. I realize that Art is very subjective and try to never disparage the opinions of others. Rather than disparaging others opinions of the album I will say only that Radiohead's latest effort benefits from ones fullest attention and rewards a listener with a deep emotional attachment to the music.
