refreshing, soft results
pros: lathers well, hair has pleasant subtle scent when dry (almost no scent really), doesn't cause fly away, rinses clean feeling, my scalp feels refreshed, tight feeling from dry skin that most "clarifying" shampoos give me
cons: none so far
neutral notes/personal preference: apple cider vinegar is big right now and some products are very unpleasant smelling or just fake. the end result of Aveeno's version is about the same as just using a vinegar rinse after a regular shampoo.
*editing to add ingredients as i noticed the shampoo really did feel different than others i've used. notably a very slight "minty" effect that i've noticed in medicated dandruff shampoos. the medicate shampoos have menthol or coal tar which have very strong unpleasant effects. this is pretty subtle, and feels more like a cooling effect than the stinging of menthol. none of these ingredients are minty in the least. i'm going to say the feeling i'm having is the same as skin care products that are highly moisturizing instead of just slick with dimethicone.
sodium c1416 olefin sulfinate - surfactant (lather, spreads product easier, etc.)
cocamidopropyl betaine - surfactant
vinegar - doesn't say specifically that it is apple cider vinegar
polyquaternium 22 - antistatic, can cause build up for some people if every product you use has this ingredient. otherwise just switching for a while to a product without it resolves the issue
peg 7 amodimethicone - smooths and helps highly damaged hair as a detangler
linoleamidopropyl pg-dimonium chloride phosphate - antistatic and conditioner
polyquaternium 39 - antistatic (note about all the "poly" ingredients is that they can act as antimicrobial)
sodium hydrolyzed cocamide - helps hair get wetted more quickly to spread the product
sodium hydrolyzed potato starch dodecenylsuccinate - volumizer for the product
peg 150 pentaerythrityl tetrastearate - thickener for the product
ppg-2 hydroxyethyl cocamide - foaming agent
propylene glycol - helps products moisturize skin
hexylene glycol - helps product spread onto the hair
sodium citrate - cuts acidity
sodium hydroxide - balances PH
