A good idea that needs some improvements.
Bagrider
This is a simple but brilliant idea that is lacking in quality and execution. I'm a single mom and I travel a lot - always with my toddler (he is 15 months and just finished his 72nd flight). As a baby, I used a travel system (stroller and infant seat). Now with the convertible car seat, I tried the car seat and dolly contraptions (i.e. Britax). They are way too difficult to set up and take down quickly, such as when passing through security or boarding the plane. With the BagRider, you do have to carry the car seat. However, it is much quicker to get a little one in and out, and to set up and take down.
The harness system does not fit particularly well on my toddler, but it is very secure. I took a turn a little to quickly, lost control of the bag (too easy to do), and it nearly ended up on its side. Fortunately, I caught it before kid met ground. He was safely secured and had one heck of a ride.
As mentioned, the BagRider needs numerous improvements. First, the wheels are too small and cheap. They don't roll well and make horrendous noises on various surfaces. Because the wheels are small, they regularly get caught in gaps - like the floor of the elevator door, tile floors, gaps in concrete, and the little bumpy strips at intersections (MAJOR tipping hazard!). They will also snag carpet. Steering is a disaster. There is no reason for the bag to have such small wheels – larger wheels would easily fit. To aid in maneuverability down the aisle and steering in general, spinners would be much appreciated.
The harness slips easily on and off the handle, but there is no place to put it. You cannot open the bag just a little and slip it in – the hard case makes that impossible. A small soft pocket on the front of the bag would easily solve this problem.
Finally, The biggest drawback of this bag is that it has no top handle. This makes it next to impossible to pull out of an overhead bin when you have a child in one arm. I realize a handle might make the bag a little less comfortable when a child is sitting on the BagRider, but I believe one can be added in a way that is not so obtrusive.
Just an FYI for potential buyers - you aren't going to get a full suitcase worth of items in this bag. A lot of internal space is taken up already by the mechanism.
Keeping the BagRider at its current price point but adding larger wheels, spinners on the bag, a pocket for the harness, and a top handle, would make this bag everything it should be.
