Sierra XBT vs. Sierra Powerglide
Undecided between the Powerglide and the XBT, I got them both in red.
Similarities:
-600 denier Duralite Ballistic Nylon
-Size: 21" x 14" x 9" (As stated in the bag tag)
-Weight; 4lbs.
-Capacity: 2350 cubic inch
-Plastic zippers
-Rollers
-Telescoping handle
-3 large compartments. The first big compartment is similar. The second is not
-3 zipper bags (2 on the sides, 1 on the front)
-When you open the back area to reach the back straps, the cover turns into a layer that protects you from getting dirty when holding the bag on your back. Both the XBT and the Powerglide have a velcro to stick the layer against the adjacent wall and keep it steady while walking. They both have ears for extra coverage from rolls dirt.
-Same type of wheels
-Plastic key clip
Differences:
-XBT's red is darker.
- XBT has: straps on the sides and an envelope on the front. The Powerglide has a pocket that faces down. Yes, you could drop everything if you are not careful when opening this pocket's zipper.
-XBT's side pockets are too small for my IPhone 6. My IPhone 6 fits on the side pockets of the Powerglide. Other reviewers have shown how they used these pockets to carry their bottles of water.
-XBT's 2nd large compartment has two separations. One of which is slightly padded for laptops. The laptop goes on the second compartment (middle area) on the XBT. This compartment has 2 separations, which makes fir 3 areas. Laptop compartment is on the rear end on the Powerglide. Your laptop would go against your back sort to speak. This is the main difference between these two bags.
-XBT's handle is a neoprene covered wire. Looks pretty strong. Powerglide's handle is made out of nylon and feels nicer to the touch.
-Telescopic handles are different. I would say XBT looks like it would last longer. Although XBT today shows 13% of negative feedback (2 and 1 stars) against 10% on Powerglide.
-Wheels look similar but there is a big difference. The XBT wheels have a frame. This takes room. I tried to fit in a computer I'm travelling with. It didn't fit, probably because of this frame.
Negatives:
-I see lots of positives on the XBT, but the frame surrounding its wheels is a big no no for me as it takes away room.
-I don't know what to think about the Powerglide upside-down front pocket.
-None of them have drink holders
I have not use any of these rolling backpacks yet. I bought them at full price to try them in preparation for my upcoming trip to South America. I might check on the Sierra Rev, which is 2930 cu. in., and still 4lbs, 21x14x9 (TSA ok) rolling backpack.
