bad house wiring
Honest and factual review; Stanley TRE650, just received mine today, with that being said, too many people are reviewing products based on false hearsay and misplaced opinions. Lets start with the basics, it is not a 15 amp gun, not even a 10amp gun, even though the box it's packaged in, and sellers of, claims it to be a 10amp gun, FACT- IT'S A 6AMP GUN, they must be advertising it as a 10amp gun based on it power adjustment on the gun itself, in no way does it increase it's amperage to 10amps with this adjustment, the adjustment must merely allow for it's full potential while reducing it's power, prevents the guns "6amp" capability to over shoot smaller wood pieces. The gun clearly states on it's electrical labeling 120v 6amps, nothing more. Second...IT IS NOT CAPABLE OF SHOOTING STAPLES OF ANY KIND, regardless of what reviews you've read elsewhere. 3rd, I've seen where advertisers are stating it can utilize 1-1/4 in brads, NO IT CAN NOT! 1in. max Will it shoot all the way through, or do you have to finish nail by hand, ok, lets settle this misnomer once and for all. If you utilize the gun with it's instructional.....keyword here----instructional intention of use, you should be able to drive the nails flush most of the time, why most of the time, if you use an electrical extension cord, bad house wiring, it will reduce the guns capability to shoot at full power, next, wood density, harder woods, oak, ash, poplar, even maple, it may or may not shoot flush, softer woods like pines it will have very little issue. Ok, so why the 5 stars???? because it does what it claims to do, it feels sturdy, should hold up, and drives the brads in according with it's recommended nails as it should. You did not buy a Porter Cable or a Bosch, but a Stanley electric Brad Nailer, Good for small projects ie; bird houses, planter boxes, small woodworking projects, so, why would I fault the gun because of others false reviews, my review is based on what the Gun states it's capable of doing. I've owned several brad nailers in the past, Craftsman, Arrow, etc, and the along with the Stanley, all are a lower grade Brad gun, with the Stanley TRE650, probably the best of the less expensive ones. I would buy this gun again if needed. p.s. if you do need to utilize an extension cord, don't use a cheap house one or low gauge wire cord, heavier cord will help the gun use it's possible full amperage capabilities. Safe woodworking to all. 50+ years woodworking experience, future site- hobbycraftsusa.com coming in 2016 Rich
