I purchased a large bin of LEGOS for my son for his 5th birthday. It was a little over 700 pieces for $50 and came in a yellow LEGO shaped plastic container. I had done some comparative pricing around at different stores, and that appeared to be the best deal for a basic LEGO set. I was honestly happy and excited because I thought I had found a great deal. Once I opened the box and realized how small 700 pieces actually are…I decided to buy another box to make sure he had enough to build whatever he wanted. My only problem was that I just couldn’t justify going and buying ANOTHER large basic LEGO set for $50! I knew there had to be a better option. So, off to the world of Amazon I went in search of a decently priced supplementary box of LEGOS. As I scrolled through my options, I saw this product. I had never even thought of the idea of an off-brand LEGO product. I thought that LEGO was exclusive and that there was nothing else like it out there. I figured nothing would work with a LEGO other than another LEGO. I was clearly mistaken. I was absolutely overjoyed to see the price – less than $30 for over 1000 pieces?! This can’t be true. It simply must be a garbage product. It just isn’t possible. I kept telling myself that there is a reason it’s so inexpensive…then I began to read the reviews. A few of the “bad” reviews had me worried. But the fantastic reviews vastly outweighed the bad ones. So I decided to give it a shot. I planned on testing them out before giving them to my son to make sure they worked and he wouldn’t be disappointed. They arrived and I have tested them out…and I must say these are just as good as the LEGOS brand. I’m sorry LEGO, but you have some seriously fierce competition out there now for my business. Wow! These are fantastic! I tested them with other LEGOS and they click just fine. I’m sure there are a few in there that just don’t fit PERFECTLY…but let’s face it…my son is 5. It’s building with LEGOS, not brain surgery… if a few LEGOS don’t click properly with these, no big deal. If it really bothers him, we can toss the pieces that don’t fit quite right…for less than $30 for over 1000 pieces, I can afford to do that. Parents…if you’re looking for an inexpensive option to LEGOS…or if you already own LEGOS and are looking to supplement to that collection, this is a FANTASTIC option. I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone looking to grow or start a LEGO collection on limited funds…or even if you’re NOT on limited funds, there’s no need to pay over $50 for 700 pieces when you can pay this price for over 1000! This is a no-brainer in my opinion! I will say I have yet to give this to my son for his birthday. If anything changes or I find an issue with the product, I will update my review as necessary.
