I had been looking for a lamp that fit my color/space/lighting needs for a long time. Well, this did the trick. A very high end looking lamp for the price! I have read reviews here that it was hard to put together, but I did not find it to be so. I am no handyman (or in my case woman) by any stretch, but I put this together alone in 30 minutes with a lot less expletives than many other self-assembled pieces of furniture in my home. I think if you were short, 5'5" or below, you might have a problem with the taller of the three arms and installing the lampshade. I am tall, so I had no problem. My ONLY complaint is the tiny little hex screws used to tighten the arms are about the size of poppy seeds. I found the best way to install those was to place it on the allen wrench and use the wrench as a handle to put the screw in the hole. The lighting is fabulous!! Torchiere lamps place too much light on the ceiling for me and too indirect. These however are perfect diffused lighting to read by or just lighten up a dark corner and eliminate the need for a separate wall hanging since they look like a piece of modern art. The shades are a neutral burlap-ish material and give off a very natural light. I would describe the style of lamp as overall modern or casual living. Bottom line: I could not BE more pleased! The only thing I cant comment on is longevity/lifespan-- but its just a lamp. It should last a while.
