Known issues with phone mic, screen not very senitive to touch, changes when it wants - - UPDATE!
I had very high hopes for this phone. I had a TracFone Alcatel A460G which this one was going to replace. I got everything set up, apps installed and all that. I will say off the bat the camera is superb and the downloading and surfing is fast. Given that, this is where it ends. After booting up with the phone setup the way I wanted, the screen suddenly began launching intermittently to the secondary home screen and then sometimes will minimize on its own. Six or eight taps/swipes later, I can get to the main home screen and full screen size. Tapping icons is like a chicken pecking at seed. It takes six or eight taps sometimes to launch an app. As for phone calls, I can hear the other party just fine but they say I sound like I'm talking into a pillow. I tried using canned air and a toothpick to clean out the mic opening for the phone, and I even cleared out all the cache on all three phone app settings. This was according to The Droid Guy online. None of the steps worked, including launching the phone in Safe Mode. Further reading indicated this is a known issue with the Samsung Galaxy. The J3 Orbit is apparently no exception. Guess I'll try for an exchange or maybe look elsewhere. 1-23-2019 UPDATE - - - I began digging and found out what caused the issues I was having. I had downloaded and installed some add-on screen icons and keyboard themes. Apparently those tax the processor or eat up memory. I just don't know what happens, but my advice is DO NOT add themes, screen icons, keyboard themes or anything like that which alter the cosmetics. Also, make absolutely sure your fingers are not resting on the top or bottom edges of the phone case near the microphones. You could end up covering them and the party on the other end cannot hear you. I normally don't use a cellphone for surfing the net, but I decided to try and see how it does using my WiFi here at home. It SMOKES! Very happy about that. Coverage and signals are good in department and grocery stores where otherwise it's traditionally spotty at best. Yes, I jumped the gun on my initial review, so I want to set things straight. So far, I am pleased overall with this device. I just ordered a protective case and extended warranty coverage in the event I get careless. Great phone for the price. I may get another as a gift.
