Everything I wanted, minus the stuff I'm sick of
Best movie I've seen in a while. Complete character development, no random actions by characters simply to move plot forward, evolution of characters in keeping with their intrinsic traits. Action when logical in the story, not violence for the sake of violence. Limited guns, which is something I appreciate because I'm just sick of easy death where people disassociate from passion/motivation/ownership of consequences. No sleazy innuendo, gratuitous sexuality, and I think only one cuss word. I don't care, but it was nice to see a movie that was kid/old people appropriate and didn't suck.
I was really amused by people who found an almost all black cast and the use of the word colonizer offensive. It's 2018, you have access to historical fact, current data, and common sense, should you choose to use it, so can we just learn, accept and evolve? Ugh. It didn't really feel like a political message in the movie at all, more like an over-all moral imperative to create a better world and honor each other.
Logical and reasonably developed plot: OCD me happy
Good message: ethics student me happy
Watchable with kids: mom me happy
Strong female characters with more going for them than just being pretty: feminist me happy
Hotties, action, music, Marvel fun: basic b**ch me happy
