The grinder mechanism seems to work well although the proof will be evident after a few months use. Some curious notes are to be found in the "Helpful Tips" page (section Cleaning Tip) accompanying the grinders: * "We recommend not to take the grinding mechanism apart when cleaning the grinder." - How else do you properly clean the item? * "There is a semi-clear plastic washer resting on the white grinding burr that is very easy to lose. You might not even see it, since it tends to cling to the grinding burr, but if you remove the grinding burr and wash it with the clear washer still resting on it, you might lose it." - Firstly, WHY is there a plastic washer on a ceramic burr grinder when in the process of grinding you may get plastic bits among the ground pepper (or salt/spice)?? On close examination of the taken-apart grinder, I could not find any evidence of a plastic washer -- so why is it even mentioned in the notes? The price for the two grinders was very reasonable. The capacity and shape of the items are also very positive aspects of the grinders.
