Just got my new taupe Rose Sandals today, and it's like the designers sat down and picked my brain about what would constitute my perfect travel sandal! I'm leaving for a trip to Myanmar (Burma) in a couple of days, and was looking for something 'dressy' enough to wear in the cities (with quick release entry for visiting the many temples that require bare feet), sturdy enough for mild trekking, and with a closed toe for a few days of mountain biking on roads and paths. I also have problems with all-nylon webbing sandals because they are too abrasive on the sides of my feet. The Rose Sandals have everything on my wish list. The leather straps are somewhat soft and can stretch where needed to customize fit. The webbing parts are 'neoprene' lined for comfort/non-chafing. The toe cap also has a great neoprene lining so my toes don't catch on the straps in the toe area. The soles are light, flexible (yes!) and well-cushioned, with good traction on the bottom. Fit was just a bit on the short side (I often wear an 8.5 in most shoes, needed a 9 in this model), but I have learned I need the extra room in a Keen when the toe is closed, so no problem. I have just two days to wear them around the house before I leave, but so far, absolutely no itchy/rubby/burny spots. I will be updating my review after 15 days of constant use in a developing country!
