Dynamic Duo?
Though this review is for the Heating Pad only, I cannot help but include how I use this device. I pair the heating pad with my Pure Enrichment PurePulse Duo TENS/EMS unit and couldn't be happier with the results. As a long time sufferer of chronic lower back pain (sciatica), I have been around the block a few times searching for the right treatment to manage my pain. I've been to chiropractors and massage therapists more times than I can count, and they seem to provide the best results. At least with the chiropractor, one staple of therapy is the use of TENS and a heated compress on my lower back to help alleviate the muscle tension. I've long wished to have this therapy available without an appointment and the associated costs. Well, after purchasing the previously mentioned TENS unit, I was half way there. Now that I've added the Pure Enrichment PureRelief XL heating pad, my days of suffering are a memory.
Pros:
-- Heats up quickly and evenly - I've had heading pads in the past which seem to heat up first along the coils and then radiated out over time. This pad doesn't appear to suffer from this problem. I notice a nice, even warming throughout.
-- Insulated? - I guess it must be insulated on the reverse side, as I don't feel nearly as much heat coming through the back of the pad. Some may think this is a fault, not a pro. My impression is it helps the pad do it's job, keeping the heat focused where it is needed the most. I also like that it doesn't heat up whatever I've lying or sitting against, so it's safe for heat-sensitive surfaces. Again, this is just my impression, so your mileage may vary. Don't come screaming at me if you melt your beanbag chair. (Though I suspect if something is hot enough to damage materials, your skin would be melting off too.)
-- It is big! - I love how large they made this one. I can literally use it along my spine and get relief from my neck to my posterior. No more having to move the heating pad around to treat larger areas. With this pad, you're covered... literally.
Cons:
-- Cord Length - Just a personal desire, but I'd like the cord length from the remote to the pad to be a bit longer. I find it a little short and inconvenient when I'm using it on my back and I'm lying down. The cord is 'just' long enough to reach the remote comfortably. If anything were to require routing of the cord, it might prove difficult.
-- Batteries - (Just kidding) I'd love a battery operated pad so I could wear it around.. it's just that comforting.
Overall, I'm sticking with 5 stars as the con is really just a preferential thing, not a negative on the functioning of the heating pad.
