He may want to kill me in my sleep but these caps won't let him.
Let me start off by saying I almost NEVER review things, but I felt this needed one. I have the most chill cat on the planet. He is nearly 12 years old, and has been very well behaved up until a few years ago. He never clawed until a few years after we got the first brand new living room furniture we've ever had-ever. So imagine my surprise when I started seeing small snags and puncture marks in my new leather sofa. So, I covered the accessible corner with a blanket thinking that would stop the little show of power. NOPE. He just moved to other furniture and the back of my loveseat. Now, I like my cat, but was seriously considering for the first time ever sending his destructive furry butt to get declawed. I have never once considered doing this to an animal, but it was either that or he would become outside only cat when up until now he's been indoor only his whole life. We live on a busy corner and there are massive racoons and coyotes around so we didn't really want to kick his geriatric butt outdoors. Then my cousin posted on Facebook about the caps. I wondered why I was just now hearing about them so I ordered them. Read the reviews and decided to err on the side of caution and get the XS size since everyone said they ran big, and Bailey the cat only weighs 7#. So, they arrived last night, and I picked out some black ones since I didn't think he's be too appreciative of pink sparkly ones, plus I wanted to be sure I could easily see if they fell off or something. Please let me repeat- he is the most chill cat on the planet- I have been trimming his claws for years and he doesn't care one bit. So I trimmed his claws, tried a cap or two on without glue to make sure the XS would fit. They do fit, but whoever said they run big either doesn't know how big their cat is, or received the wrong size. I should have gotten the S but they are totally fine. I only did Bailey's front paws, and it took maybe 5 minutes- by myself. Did I mention my cat is chill? He cried a little, but a quick adjustment to his sitting position cleared that up. He looked at me like he was going to kill me in my sleep when I was done, but only gave each paw a sniff ad a quick shake and laid back down for another 20 hour nap. So, in summary- get the size it says to, and save your furniture for less than the price and kitty anguish of a declawing.
