12L is pre-K size perfect. I purchased the 12L, thinking I’d rathe have a larger size but I almost bought the 7L and I am glad I didn’t. The 12L is perfect pre-k size and I guarantee the 7L would be too small. The 12L is smaller than an average school sized backpack and fits my 2 year old perfectly. It’s a great quality, everything functions well, and she absolutely adores it. It’s big enough to fit a folder, lunch box, and a change of clothes but I don’t imagine it would fit much more than that. The matching lunch box fits perfectly and is perfect. I imagine that if you are looking for a small bag for just a change of clothes or small toys, the 7 L would be good for that purpose.
