Overall i like this new version much better than the original. I have the first version and it worked well but had some design flaws. The new version solves for most of those and gives you more planting space. Pros: - the water level view window! The old one it was so hard to tell where the water level was and when it needed water. This version makes it way easier. - the power cord. The first version power cord plugged into base and power went through the adjustable arm holding up the light. When you adjusted the arm it would often disconnect and I would have to reconnect and start the cycle again. This new one, the cord plugs into the light directly. While its less aesthetically pleasing it will cause a lot less issues. -size: can hold 12 plants opposed to the original 7. This version is shorter but deeper, so easier to use on a countertop or table. Cons: The only con so far is that the included power cord is a bit short. It would be fine for a counter near an outlet, but I have mine in a dresser and need an extension cord to plug it in. Just planted some basil, so hopefully it grows as well as it did in the original. I'll update later.
