I was reluctant to buy this product for two reasons. 1. I read all the reviews about the product durability and the complaint that it does after a few weeks. 2. I refused to believe that my son, who has not slept through the night in his own bed for more than a total number of 5 days in his 5 years of life, would remotely care about a dog and a ball. I was wrong. I cannot believe that I finally have my bed back!!! The first night we used it, my son walked into my room at his usual time. I reminded him that the light was still red. He went back to bed. I haven’t had a problem since, which is freaking incredible!!! If you’re a frustrated parent reading this then you know exactly what I’m talking about. I had tried EVERYTHING and had just given up because I was so tired. I thought, hopefully he won’t be in my bed when he’s 13. My kids, now 5 and 2, think of the light as some type of game. Every morning they come running into the room shouting “The light’s green Mommy!” I have even heard them pacing back and forth in the hallway waiting for the light to turn green so they could run in my room. Every night they remind me to turn on the dog. Crazy right! I find the dog to be a little creepy when the ball is red. Makes me think of Chuckie from Child’s Play. Fortunately, my children aren’t bothered by it. Which is shocking because my son is afraid of the smoke detector...seriously. I’ve had this alarm clock for several weeks now. I started using it with batteries and then plugged it in using the AC adapter. I have had no trouble with it. It doesn’t lose time, hasn’t broken, glows just as brightly as the first time. The only thing is that for people who don’t like to deal with setting clocks, there are a LOT of buttons that give you options. Once you get it set though, you just push one button every night and then you’re good. I’ve used the nap timer as well but found that I don’t really need it because the 5 year old has outgrown his nap and the 2 year old will sleep until someone wakes her. If you’re hesitant to buy this because you question whether it works, it’s not that expensive. Just do it. If it does work for you (and i’m pretty sure it will) you’ll bang your head against the wall for not trying it sooner. I’m honestly is awe of this thing! Such a simple solution for a 5 year problem.
