Sizing and technical information here...
This is a wonderful quality coverall. I originally got the tall size, and they were too tall. I am 6 feet tall and 210 pounds. Once I tried on the tall size, I felt like a kid that tried on his dad's clothes. It seemed like it was made for people who are at least 6 feet 4 inches tall. If you are between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 3 inches tall then, then this regular size coverall is for you. In my case, I got the regular size with 46 inch chest, which was perfect for me (and I have a little bit of a belly too). Respond to this posting if you find this or other sizes that work with your height and weight so that more people can get a better idea of the proper size to order. I have been through a few different kinds of coveralls and shopped around for others. Here is my review of these Carhartts: Pockets: Pockets are an important factor for me because I have things to put in them. I don't want to fuss with poorly designed pockets or even a lack of pockets. After a long search, these Carhartt coveralls have the best pocket configuration. - Two upper chest pockets which are big enough to store a cell phone, wallet and such. The openings are at angels which make it easy to access them while wearing gloves. They also zipper close so your stuff does not full out when you bend over. - Two good sized inside pockets. One is zippered shut, and the other uses Velcro. This also keeps your stuff from falling out when you bend over or while putting on the coveralls. - Two waist pockets. These are pretty deep. - A small sleeve pocket with the ability to slide in two pens or pencils - Two back pockets about the standard size of pant pockets. - One leg pocket on both legs that is long and narrow, I guess for holding screwdrivers or something. - A loop on each leg for holding things like hammers. Sleeve seals: I was not sure what else to call these things, but my point here is that the sleeves have thick, elastic, fabric cuffs in them. This is great to help keep the cold from traveling up the sleeves. Pant leg access: The pant leg zippers go up all the way from feet to the waist. Thank goodness that there is a manufacturer who does this. These long zipper legs really make it easier to get into the coveralls while wearing boots, where most other coverall brands only go up to the knee and require you to have to take off your shoes to get in the coverall. Zippers and snaps The snaps are top quality. I am certified in upholstery and I can tell you that there are many different levels of quality when it comes to something as simple as snaps. These Carhartt snaps will take a lot of abuse before they come loose. All zippers (except the inside chest pocket) are brass zippers. They are the heavy duty kind like were on my old military issue winter wear that still work to this day. Style: Unlike the goofy looking coveralls of most other brands, these Carhartt coveralls are sharp looking. They make you look like a working person instead of making you look like a walking sleeping bag. Fit: These are very comfortable. However, they are pretty stiff to wear at first. They loosen up after a couple of washings and being worn a few times. When you sit down, they don't tighten up at the crotch reducing your chance to have children. The armpits also don't bunch up or cut off circulation to the arms. I get cold easily, so I sometimes wear a lot of clothing under them at one time: thermal underwear, jeans, t-shirt, sweater. With all that on, these are still comfortable to wear. Fabric and stitching: Durable! I work in the thick of the woods at times, and therefore the branches and picker bushes are always attacking me. This coverall fabric fends them off like a champ. The threads that stitch the fabric together is a large diameter and strong. My other brand coveralls have regular thread and they seem to come apart before anything else does. Washing: Easy to wash. These coveralls are big, so they count as one load all by themselves. The label says to machine wash cold and drip dry or tumble dry with no heat. I don't have time to drip dry them, so I use the dryer on low heat. I have not had any problems so far. Warm: I live in Northern Michigan where it gets pretty cold. These coveralls were much warmer than I thought they would be. When temps are above 32 degrees F, I end up wearing just jeans and a t-shirt to keep from overheating in these. Overall, these are the best cold weather coveralls I have tried over many years. If you want good quality coveralls for the cold weather, then get these Carhartt coveralls.
