The pictures are a bit confusing, so I just snapped a pic to show what you actually get when the package arrived. As you may be able to see, you do NOT get the square top - instead, it is indeed a skinny rectangle as the other picture on Amazon shows. As far as assembly, this probably goes without saying, but one person can assemble this in 60 seconds. For the elderly, the metal is not heavy, and is easy to handle and, again, very easy to put together. I hope this review helps you in deciding if this is the right pole hit for your birdhouse or feeder!
